Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Jacuzzi, spa and a hot tub?
1. Jacuzzi® It is a registered brand name (the American manufacturer that invented modern hydrotherapy). In everyday language it has become a common noun used generically for any bubbly tub or mini-pool, but technically it is a commercial trademark.
2. Hot tub It is a bathtub equipped with water/air jets, pumps and a drainage system. Emptying: It is filled with clean water for each use and completely emptied after bathing (like a regular bathtub). No chemicals: It does not require disinfectants (chlorine, bromine) or permanent filters. Capacity: Usually 1-2 people.
3. Spa (or outdoor mini-pool) It is a self-contained outdoor (or indoor) unit permanently filled with water. Water maintenance: The water remains in it for weeks or months at a time, being recirculated, filtered and chemically treated, similar to a swimming pool. Continuous heating: It has an integrated heater and thermal insulation to keep the water warm (37–40°C) all year round, including outdoors in winter. Capacity: Designed for 2–8+ people, featuring ergonomically designed seats specifically created for targeted hydrotherapy.
How do I choose the right model for my family?
The choice starts from the number of users, their height, the available space and the budget. A lounge seat offers a complete massage in a reclined position, whilst a configuration exclusively with upright seats maximises space for socialising. Equally important are the thermal insulation, the water filtration and treatment system, the electricity consumption and the included accessories (thermal cover, steps, lighting).
Does the declared number of seats mean that all users sit comfortably?
The number of seats indicates the positions provided by the manufacturer, but comfort depends on the height and build of the users. Two models with the same number of seats can have very different internal volumes. Therefore, we recommend checking the depth of the seats, the legroom and the position of the jets. The displayed models can be seen and tested in the Hidrostyle showroom in Tunari.
How much does a hot tub cost and what is included in the price?
The price varies depending on size, number and type of jets, insulation level, filtration system and optional features. A complete quote will separately detail the cost of the main equipment and the essential accessories (thermal cover, access steps or water treatment systems). Separate from the equipment price, logistical and technical costs may arise: transport, handling (crane/special machinery), installation and commissioning, along with site preparation (concrete slab) and the dedicated electrical connection.
What needs to be prepared for installing a hot tub?
For installation, a flat, stable surface is required, sized to withstand the total weight of the product filled with water. Outdoors, we recommend a reinforced concrete platform. Additionally, you need a nearby water source (for filling with a hose) and a suitable electrical connection. Plug & Play models operate on a standard dedicated and protected socket, whilst more powerful models require a separate circuit run from the consumer unit, fitted with residual current protection.
Can the hot tub be built-in or installed indoors?
Yes, both options are possible, but require planning from the design stage, before finishing works are carried out. When built-in, it is essential to ensure service access to the equipment (pump, heater, control panel), as well as adequate ventilation and a drainage system for spilled water. For indoor installation, the structural strength, floor waterproofing, an accidental water drainage point and an efficient dehumidification system must additionally be checked.
Can I use the hot tub in winter?
Yes, outdoor models can be used without issues during winter, provided they remain connected to power to maintain the anti-freeze function and are covered with an efficient thermal cover. It is essential that the water does not freeze in the pumps and pipes. If you do not intend to use it during the cold season, the hot tub must be completely emptied and winterised according to the manual, preferably by an authorised technician.
How much energy does a hot tub consume?
Consumption varies depending on the water volume, thermal insulation efficiency, set temperature, outdoor weather conditions and frequency of use. To reduce costs, the most important aspects are the constant use of a quality thermal cover and maintaining a constant water temperature (continuous heating consumes less than repeated reheating from zero). Since consumption depends on the model and installation method, a concrete estimate can be calculated based on the technical sheet of the chosen product and the specific placement conditions.
How are delivery, handling and commissioning carried out?
Before delivery, we check the access route together: the width of gates, the pathway, any steps, slopes or obstacles up to the placement location. Depending on the terrain specifics, handling is done with special protective and transport equipment or with the help of a crane/forklift. After positioning on the slab, our technicians carry out the necessary connections, filling, first start-up, operational tests and your user training. If special lifting equipment is required, its cost is clearly stated in the quote.
